Frequently asked questions

The Booking Process

When you first reach out via Facebook messenger or phone, you will send me the concept you have for your tattoo. Please include a description and/or pictures of your concept, placement and size. We will work together to set expectations and agree on a concept that meets both your vision and my style. Once we are in agreement, I will collect your deposit and we will set an appointment date and time.

You will see the final design when we meet for your appointment. We will make any minor changes to the design, such as matching size to your body, at your appointment time. Major change requests may result in a reschedule but rarely occur as we agree to your concept prior to setting the appointment. When requested, I can provide a rendering prior to your appointment time - designs are done 24 hours prior to your appointment.

Preparing and the Day of

You are required to be 18+ and must bring a valid, government issued photo ID to your session. Failure to do so will result in a cancellation of your session and forfeiture of your deposit.

Due to limited space, you may bring only one other person who is not getting tattooed with you. For safety and legal reasons, this person must be 16+.

Once your appointment is booked, start moisturizing your skin daily. Avoid sun exposure, as we cannot tattoo sunburned skin.

Starting the night before, get a good night's rest and drink plenty of water. Refrain from drinking alcohol or taking NSAIDS, such as ibuprofen, at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.

On the day of, please eat prior to your appointment. You may also bring food and drinks for breaks. Do not be afraid to ask for a break when needed. Please shower and wear comfortable clothing that provides access to the area bring tattooed. We do supply pasties for tattoos that require an exposed chest. Again, do not forget your ID.

The healing process

The healing process is just as important as having the tattoo made. During the healing process:

  • Avoid soaking your tattoo, plan to avoid pools, hot tubs and swimming until your tattoo is healed.

  • Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds.

  • Avoid exercise or activity that will stretch the skin and force scabs to fall off.

  • Moisturize your skin daily, even after it's healed.

FAQ - TOUCH-UPS

One free touch-up on tattoos done at Wizard Ink is available within the first 6 months of that tattoo being completed. Touch-ups due to negligence during the healing process will be priced accordingly.

Adding to your current tattoo is not a part of a touch-up.

Tattoos must be fully healed before the touch-up can be performed.

FAQ - Does it hurt?

In short, yes.

However, the level of pain is subjective and also depends on the location, size and detail of the tattoo. You should expect some pain during your session, as well as some pain during the healing process. We have experience in handling a variety of pain tolerances. If you are concerned, I encourage you to discuss this during the consultation so we can help you feel more comfortable about what to expect.

FAQ - Must Stop

As the artist, I reserve the right to stop services if the situation jeopardizes the integrity of the artwork. This may result in multiple appointments or a referral to another artist.

If you require a break or believe you must stop the current session, please openly communicate with me during your session about your experience.

What Our Clients Say

coverup

Brooke Peterson

I have had a tattoo since I was 18 that I have never liked and have always wanted to cover up. I have been nervous to cover it up for fear of having a bad experience/another tattoo I don’t like. I found Wizard Ink by chance and saw some of Robbie’s cover up work and knew he’d do a great job and he definitely did! He exceeded my expectations! He took the time to do a consult with me, was patient with me, and gave me input. The outcome is better than I could have expected and I am so happy with the results! Robbie and his wife were chill to hang and chat with and just an overall great experience at his shop. Thanks Robbie!
